La Strada Trattoria Contemporanea

Delicious modern interpretations, lovely presentation. Enjoyed the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Recommend!

We had dinner at this very nice trattoria at one of its first days. We were greeted at the beginning with a glass of sparkling wine. The place was very pleasant, the food was delicious and the service was warm and efficient. Altogether excellent.

Absolutely superb! Really loved this new restaurant in Sulmona. Incredibly imaginative food prepared with real flair. Fab menu, great atmosphere, lovely staff and just gorgeous food. The best meal I've ever had in Sulmona in two decades. Highly recommend. A fantastic addition to the town.

Everything about this restaurant was fantastic!! The food and presentation-superb! Sommelier understood our needs and found us the perfect wine! The service was attentive but relaxed. And the place is comfortable as well as beautiful! My only regret is that I live in the US so can’t make this a regular habit!! I give you 12 out of 10 stars!!

We absolutely loved this place. Elisa, our waitress, was attentive, professional and genuinely lovely. Our wine recommendation was spot on for our taste, and we really appreciated the guidance. The look and feel of the restaurant is beautiful, warm, contemporary and welcoming, but most importantly, the food was excellent. We ordered the pecora and the agnello, and both were cooked perfectly. The potatoes served with the crumbed lamb were beautifully seasoned, and the sauce with the pecora was outstanding. It’s not so common in Italy to find meat dishes served with a proper sauce, so this was a real highlight. Portion sizes were just right. Our only regret is that we had an aperitivo elsewhere and were too full to try a primo or dessert. Both menus looked fantastic. Don’t make the same mistake we did: skip aperitivo elsewhere and enjoy a full meal here, from primi through to dolci. Highly recommended.

I have traveled to Sulmona many times since 2013 and this new restaurant is truly an excellent addition to the city's dining options. Located just steps away from the Piazza Garibaldi in the city's historic centre, it is very stylish and elegant but with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. The food is delicious and, as the name "Trattoria Contemporanea" suggests it is a respectful modern take on traditional dishes using fresh, local ingredients. I should also note that my wife and I are vegetarian and sometimes struggle to find non-meat options, but really did not feel that we had any less of an experience at La Strada, simply due to the outstanding quality of the dishes we were able to choose (the Stuffed Artichoke with Caciocavallo cream was outstanding). La Strada also has a very extensive and carefully chosen wine list with excellent recommendations from the owner, Alessandro. We visited twice in our five day stay in Sulmona and will definitely return!

This is a wonderful restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely, the service is friendly, and the food/wine is excellent. High recommend.
